New York Rangers newly acquired forward speaks out and reveals his true feelings towards the organization
New York Rangers newly acquired forward opens up about how his experience with the Rangers organization is going, compared to being with the team that drafted him.
Before the New York Rangers claimed
Arthur Kaliyev off waivers from the L.A. Kings, he had not played a game in the NHL since April of 2023.
To add to his ongoing issues Kaliyev suffered a fractured clavicle during training camp before the start of this season, which sidelined him for several weeks.
Clearly a difficult time for as this was the most serious injury Kaliyev has suffered, resulting in him going through a long rehab process.
«It was really hard, that was probably the longest I didn't play in my career,» Kaliyev said. «I had to workout a lot and do rehab, but it's starting to feel more normal than what it used to be.»
The 23-year old revealed that he found it difficult to process his injury as his role with the Kings was started to diminish over time, but since joining the Rangers he now feels way happier.
«Now it's finally more exciting to be back playing,» Kaliyev said. «It was a little bit tough, but it's starting to feel better and I'm way happier now.»
On Thursday night against the Utah Hockey Club, Kaliyev managed to score his first goal as a member of the Rangers.
The forward hopes that he can use his first goal as a confidence booster moving forward as this was his first goal he has scored in the NHL since March. 28th of 2023.
«I was great,» Kaliyev said about his first goal with the Rangers. «It felt really nice. Hopefully, it can boost my confidence and I can keep playing better in all areas and keep working hard.»
Peter Laviolette has slotted Kaliyev on a line alongside
Chris Kreider and
Filip Chytil, two players that he has a ton of respect for:
«Obviously they are great players,»
Kaliyev told The Hockey News. «I watched them before when I played in LA. They are awesome players, great guys. They are helping me and we played pretty well last game, so hopefully we just gotta keep playing great defensively and we will get our offensive scoring chances.»
Kaliyev definitely seems happier with the New York Rangers, so hopefully he can continue to impress the organization and make a name for himself in New York.
