The New York Rangers situation continues to deteriorate as they have lost another game to the Saint Louis Blues 3-2 earlier on Sunday.

During a post game scrum several players looked distraught, and one even brought close to tears on the current losing streak.

All players that were interviewed appeared to have no answers to why the team is spiraling downward and unable to even take a lead in a game or win a game. Many feel that it may be a mental block that the team has suffered.

Others around the NHL feel that the room has been torn apart by the recent moves by general manager Chris Drury when he traded their captain Jacob Trouba which left some shaken due to the nature of how the trade was made.

Some pundits have questioned whether some players are wondering if they're next as Drury has made it clear that he is not happy with how his team is performed and how it is currently constructed.

For the first time in several years, the Rangers are now out of the playoffs where they currently sit one point out of the second wild card.

If the Rangers continue to slide the way they've been, it's likely they could be in deep trouble and may not make the playoffs as several teams including the New York Islanders, Pittsburgh Penguins and the Philadelphia Flyers seem to be ready or have passed them.

It's becoming crucial that the Rangers find a way to turn their season around in a hurry as the league is approaching its Christmas break and it's Christmas trade freeze.

With a busy schedule in December, the Rangers will need to win as many games as possible in order to stay in the hunt for a playoff spot.

They run the risk of falling out of contention and become sellers at the deadline as the team would begin to do a retool for next season.
