It appears that the New York Rangers may be missing their star Chris Kreider for some time as the organization has called up Brennan Othmann from the Hartford Wolf Pack which could signal a longer loss of time.

Kreider missed the Rangers Sunday night game against the Pittsburgh Penguins as he has suffered an upper body injury. He's been listed day-to-day but there are some indications that he maybe out longer than people are letting on.

Othmann been excelling in the AHL, ready for NHL

The 22-year-old left winger who was drafted by the Rangers in 2021, first round, 16th overall has been pegged to being on this team for some time.
General manager Chris Drury along with his management team has felt this player would need to remain with Hartford and continue to grow and develop as there was not many spaces to slot him in.
With Kreider now potentially injured for long term, this would be an excellent chance for Othmann to show head coach Peter Laviolette what he can do honest sustained level as through 27 games, he has scored twelve goals with eight assists for 20 points and has 35 penalty minutes for the Wolf Pack.
The Rangers are keen on not bringing up their young stars as fast as possible as they would rather see them develop in the American Hockey League giving them ample ice time and learn how to play against men.

Rangers ready to make push for a playoff spot

It will be an interesting next few weeks for the Rangers organization as the team remains just outside of a wild card. After their disastrous November and December, the Rangers have stabilized to an extent and have put themselves in a position where they can take a run at a wild card.
Many feel that the Rangers will be busy at the March trade deadline which is taking place on March 7th and likely will be buyers.
This is a chance to remold their team a little more as Drury has not liked the look of the Rangers since they lost last year against the Florida Panthers in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Despite where they are in the standings, Rangers fans will get to see what Othmann can do and if he is ready for the NHL full time.
