NHL Insider Confirms Matt Rempe's Fate With The New York Rangers Once He Returns
On December 22nd, 2024 Matt Rempe received an 8-game suspension for elbowing and boarding Miro Heiskanen of the Dallas Stars. It seems that even after the major penalty he's received, the Rangers still plan on bringing Rempe back into the lineup in the future.
Rempe has been out of the lineup since the incident after receiving a game misconduct, and an 8-game suspension.
The Rangers prospect was seen at practice recently, and there was discussion about the possibility of his return by Emily Kaplan of the NHL Network during intermission today between the Washington Capitals and New York Rangers game.
She said that the Rangers love him, and his work ethic and attitude we could expect to see him suit up for the Rangers in the spring.
Rempe has played 5 games this season for the Rangers and scored 0 points. While in the AHL with the Hartford Wolfpack, he's fared better scoring 5 points( 3 G, 2 A) in 18 games.
If he continues to develop in the AHL, as the kind of forward the Rangers would like to ice on the third or fourth line, could we see him in March or April?
Rempe should attempt to return to the NHL as soon as possible, as his recent suspension cost him a significant amount of cash, as he lost $80K in pay for elbowing Heiskanen.
Except this time around, he'll have to learn to be disciplined and play less like a goon from the 80s.
Instead, maybe take more notes of Adam Lowry's style of play, as this season in the NHL on one of the top teams, he's played 40 games and scored 22 points( 10 G, 12 A).
He should learn by example and practice discipline.
