NHL Insider shockingly links the New York Rangers to these three massive upcoming free agents
An NHL insider has recently revealed the New York Rangers are set to be a major contender to acquire one of these three big names that will become free agents this offseason.
It's surprise but the New York Rangers are going to be a team to watch out for during the 2025 free agent period, as GM Chris Drury has made it clear that the team is looking for drastic changes.
Just last week, the Rangers managed to unload Jacob Trouba's $8 million cap hit as they traded him to the Anaheim Ducks.
The New York Rangers will have quite the bit of money during the offseason and ESPN's Emily Kaplan believes Chris Drury is looking to acquire some big-time free agents, such as Mitch Marner, Mikko Rantanen and Jack Eichel the following season.
«I think the uploading is going to happen before the reloading,» Kaplan said on the New Ice City podcast. «I think this is a front office that have always targeted two free agents from now when they would like to make a big splash, but maybe it's this summer instead.
We just know it's in the nature of the New York Rangers and a James Dolan owned team to always go after the big splashes. Any of these top names that you're going to see available this summer or next, whether it is Mitch Marner, Mikko Rantanen, Jack Eichel.»
Drury has made it clear that he believes that his current roster is not strong enough to compete for the Stanley Cup and that he wants to make bigger mores either around the trade deadline or the offseason.
However, It's still possible that these players mentioned by Emily Kaplan sign contract extensions with their respective teams beifre becoming free agents, but if they don't the New York Rangers are the ones to watch out for.
