Panthers defensemen faces suspension after brutal headshot in game two
Florida Panthers Dimitry Kulikov faces suspension for delivering a brutal headshot on New York Rangers Alex Wennberg.
During game two of the Eastern Conference Finals as the New York Rangers faced off against the Florida Panthers, both teams came out playing aggressive and chippy.
However, within just 10 minutes into the first period the fine line between a clean or dirty hit was unfortunately crossed as Panthers Dimitry Kulikov lays a brutal headshot on Alex Wennberg sending him flying.
Upon review the referees only handed out a two minute penalty to Kulikov for interference, but many believe it should have been a five minute major.
Regardless the NHL department of player safety is set to review this hit and make sure the right call was made on this play, and hand out whatever punishment they believe is necessary.
If you missed the game the New York Rangers managed to pull of the victory in overtime tying up the series to 1-1 as they head to Amerant Bank Arena to face off for game 3 at 3:00pm.
