The Boston Bruins organization have announced that they have placed a former first-round pick on waivers.

The Boston Bruins have been off to a struggling beginning of the season, unlike the last few seasons where they have been pretty successful under the coaching of Jim Montgomery.

However as the Bruins hold a 6-6-1 record, the organization has decided to change things up as they signed Tyler Johnson on Monday and now by placing 26-year old Max Jones on waivers.

NHL insider Elliotte Friedman was the first to announce the news that the Boston Bruins have placed another off-season signee on waivers Tuesday, after earlier in the year they placed Riley Tufte on waivers as well.

Max Jones (BOS) on waivers

Max jones was originally drafted 24th overall by the Anaheim Ducks back in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. Since then he has played in 262 NHL career games, four being with Bruins this year, and has managed to tally 31 goals and 31 assists for a total of 62 points, none being with the Bruins.

According to PuckPedia the Boston Bruins signed Max Jones to a two-year $1 million deal this offseason, but has only appeared in four games for the Bruins, with no points, 8 penalty minutes and a -4 on the year.

This just may be the type of player that the New York Rangers, as he displayed more of a tough and gritty style, something that the Rangers desperately need on their roster.

If Jones manages to clear waivers, it would mark his first AHL assignment in five years. The Anaheim 2016 first-round pick last played for their AHL affiliate in San Diego in the 2018-19 campaign.
