There is no question this team will be in a good position when the playoffs come, but they need to stand out when it comes to other competitors like the Boston Bruins or the Florida Panthers.

I think the logic here is sound.
There has to be a roadmap for the future. Players like Gabe Perreault and Brennan Othmann have an extremely bright future for the Rangers, it would be absolutely nuts to trade those two.
But the Rangers do have other prospects and a few draft picks to still make a move that makes sense now.
The Rangers are in a prime position to win in a wide open Eastern Conference. They should take it.
