Rangers prepare for their first-round matchup against the Washington Capitals, players work on their mental side along with their hockey side as the grueling schedule is about to begin and the journey as well.
Rangers Barclay Goodrow feels ready for the playoffs and gave an important statement on what he's doing to mentally prepare.
Other Rangers stars including defenseman Jacob Trouba also explains how he feels the playoffs will go and what the Rangers need to do to win against the Capitals. He mentions that adversity will be part of the series and the playoffs and that everyone must be ready for anything that comes along. He also feels he has great goaltenders and the team has a very deep lineup.
This first round matchup certainly bodes well for the Rangers as they hold strong metrics compared to the Capitals and should be able to move on to the second round. The capitals were on a recent tear and basically willed themselves into the playoffs as they helped the tiebreaker against the Detroit Red Wings who both had 91 points.
The Capitals expelled a great amount of energy to get to the dance and it remains to be seen on how much energy they have left to take on the best team in the league. Of course, the Rangers do not want to be complacent nor take the capitals lately as they were surprised last year by the New Jersey Devils.
