Matt Rempe elbowed the Dallas Stars' defenseman Miro Heiskanen at 7:13 in the third period. He'd be ejected from the game and could be subject to a suspension depending on the result of his hearing.

NHL Player Safety updates us on where Rangers' Matt Rempe will be receiving his discipline. George Parros and the Department of NHL Player Safety will have a Zoom meeting for the enforcer.

This isn't the only time he's been in trouble with the league, after he elbowed New Jersey Devils defenseman Jonas Siegenthaler in March 2024.

He would be issued a four-game suspension and would be fined a hefty amount of his salary afterward.

New York Rangers rookie forward Matt Rempe was suspended four games by the NHL Department of Player Safety on Tuesday after elbowing New Jersey Devils defenseman Jonas Siegenthaler in the head Monday night.

Now with his latest infraction, the Department of Player Safety could issue a harsher fine, and more games suspended this season.

Rempe was given a major penalty and game misconduct for elbowing, forcing the Rangers to kill off a five-minute major penalty with a 2-1 lead in the third. New York won the game 3-1. Heiskanen finished the game for Dallas.

While Rangers fans love his grittiness, and bruising style of play it's penalties like these that are unnecessary.

It's hard to tell how much time Rempe will get, but as a repeat offender, we should expect at least four games, if not more this time around.

He said before the season that he had spent the summer perfecting his overall hockey skills rather than just his fighting prowess, doing 1 months of power skating drills in preparation for this season. But Rempe has appeared in just five games for New York, failing to register a point in earning 24 penalty minutes. He had three goals and two assists in 18 games with AHL Hartford.

Despite his claims that he's worked on his overall play this offseason, this kind of behavior suggests he hasn't learned much in the way of discipline.

This season in 6 games with the Rangers he's failed to achieve much in the way of production, and accumulated 17 PIMs after the game with the Stars.
