Rangers defenseman Ben Harpur faces major suspension for intentionally charging opposing goaltender
New York Rangers defenseman faces a major suspension after being ejected from a recent AHL game.
New York Rangers veteran defenseman Ben Harpur was ejected from Friday nights game in the American Hockey League and is likely to be suspended for his actions.
As the Hartford Wolfpack was facing off against the Rochester Americans, Ben Harpur was ejected from the game for charging after the opposing goaltender Felix Sandstrom.
Which resulted in Harpur getting a a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct, a situation that doesn't help the team considering they were already down 5-1 when this happened.
NHL News shared the video of the hit on X, calling it an "intent-to-injure" hit, and unfortunately they're not wrong.

During the moment no one really knew why Harpur would do this, but some reports have surfaced stating that Harpur was getting his pay back after Felix Sandstrom injured him a play last season.
Last season, Sandstrom played for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms and during a match against the Wolf Pack, Sandstrom made a save on Harper but accidentally tripped him, resulting in him flying into the boards and putting an end to his season.
Obviously no one actually knows what was going on in Harpur's head when he decided to this, but now the 29-year old defenseman will have to pay for actions.
