New York Rangers head coach Peter Laviolette reveals the difficulties this defenseman is facing since being injured.

Peter Laviolette has opened up about the challenges and difficulties defenseman Ryan Lindgren has been working through since sustaining a jaw injury.

Ryan Lindgren has been working desperately to re-adjust since coming back from Injured Reserve, after he suffered a jaw injury during the preseason by fighting Scott Mayfield.

Which ultimately led to him being sidelined for the remainder of training camp and the first few games of the season.

Ever since Lindgren has returned, he has been wearing a full face shield, definitely something that had been difficult from him to adjust to.

Here's what head coach Peter Laviolette had to say on behalf of Ryan Lindgren:

"I still think that he's dealing with that cage on his face and he's working his way back It's hard to isolate anybody and talk about them when that's a big bus that we all can get on and just say, It's not good enough,'" Peter Laviolette said.

Lindgren also opened up about the severity of his jaw injury and the difficulty of getting used to his face shield moments before making his return to the Rangers lineup a few weeks ago.

«I ended up getting surgery on it,» Lindgren said. «I've been skating for a while now, skating with the bubble obviously. Just kind of getting used to that. It feels good now.»

Since returning, Lindgren started by playing with Victor Mancini but has now been paired with his usual defense partner, Adam fox.

Throughout the seven games the 26-year old blueliner has played, he has managed to tally one goal and one point, while averaging 19:17 minutes of ice time.
