Head coach Peter Laviolette spoke to the media explaining at his team did not defend hard enough especially this evening and will need to do so if the team wants to have more success. The Rangers did not play well enough tonight as they were outshot 46-19, had double the turnovers compared to Washington 20-10 and were down 3-1 going in through the first period.
It was clear that Spencer Carbery's Washington Capitals had the jump right from puck drop and push the Rangers to the limit as capitals superstar Alex Ovechkin scored two goals and looked dominant through the whole game.
Recently recalled forward Matt Rempe entered the game and chose to fight Capitals Dylan Mcilrath with Rempe skating off bloodied and wondering when his next shift will come after this game was over. His season has not been what he had expected after spending the summer with several players and one former player in the NHL trying to improve his game which has led to Laviolette only utilizing him a few games and playing 4 minutes again at most.
The Capitals seemed to have kept their momentum going after their surprising playoff berth last year and currently sit 4th overall in the conference. The Rangers on the other hand are still third and will look for a bounce back game as the Ottawa Senators will be coming to Madison Square Garden on Friday November 1st and game time will be 7:00 PM eastern.
