It was revealed that UFC champion Chris Weidman refused to wear a New York Rangers jersey as a part of a promotional event at Madison Square Garden during the Rangers game.

It was clear that he was unable to wear the jersey as he has an allegiance and as a die-hard New York Islanders fan as he is from Baldwin Long Island.

"When I came out here on Tuesday, the UFC was trying to get me to go to the Rangers game, and they wanted me to wear the Rangers jersey and all that stuff and go on the ice or whatever," Weidman said. "Put me on the jumbotron.

Weidman told the reporters that he had absolutely no interest in wearing the Rangers jersey.

"I actually said I can't do it. I'm not going," Weidman said.

"And people think I'm crazy. It's a great promotion. You know, you go on the jumbotron at MSG and all that, and I'm like, I can't put a Rangers jersey on," Weidman said. "And I know they're going to want to put it on me, so I couldn't do it."

The fact that he recognized that it may have been inappropriate to wear the Rangers jersey even though he is in a promotional event that would be at a New York Rangers game along with showing the love for his team deserve some respect.

It's safe to say that is the tables were turned many who can't support the New York Islanders would do the same.

Weidman is currently the champion of the middle weight class of the UFC and has been a four time champion.
