The NHL Department of Player Safety has just confirmed Jacob Trouba's fate after monster hit on Justin Barron
The National Hockey League and the NHL Department of player safety has reached a final decision on New York Rangers captain Jacob Trouba's controversial hit on Justin Barron.
Jacob Trouba finds himself at the centre of a controversial play once again, after laying a massive hit on Montreal Canadiens defenseman, Justin Barron as he was coming down the boards in the third period of the New York Rangers 7-2 blowout victory.
After Trouba laid this massive hit, it didn't take long before Canadiens defenseman Mike Matheson confronted Trouba resulting in a heated tilt that ended quickly.
However, on Wednesday morning The National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety has decided not give Trouba a fine or suspension as they deemed this was a clean hit.
While the hit got its share of scrutiny last night, I'm told no supplemental discipline from the NHL Dept. of Player Safety for @NYRangers Jacob Trouba for his check on @CanadiensMTL Justin Barron.
Many fans also believe this was clean it, along with many who believe not was a dirty hit, despite the NHL officials that were in the ice decided not to call a penalty on Trouba for the hit, but instead both players got fighting majors, and an additional 10-minute misconduct was handed to Mike Matheson.
Do you think the NHL Department of Player Safety made the right decision with this play? Let us know in the poll down below and stay tuned to NY Rangers Insider for the latest news and updates on the New York Rangers.
