With each passing game, the New York Rangers continued to shatter records as they had set a franchise record last evening with the longest point streak to begin a season.

The Blueshirts fast start also tied a team record for the longest road winning streak to start a campaign since 1931-32. They're also holding the most goals for in the NHL currently through the first six games since 1993 when the New Jersey Devils and the Los Angeles Kings also were in that position.

The Rangers are currently 5-0-1 and are firing on all cylinders as the team continues to receive offence and strong defense. Tonight, they faced off against their original 6 rival the Montreal Canadiens and absolutely crushed the team 7-2 at the Bell Center.

The game quickly pulled away from Montreal Canadiens at the Rangers opened a 4-0 lead during the first period until Nick Suzuki scored at 12:52. Through the second Montreal got a power play goal and cut the lead to four dash 2 but then shortly after the Rangers took over and scored three unanswered goals to finish off the game.

These kinds of results must make general manager Chris Drury smile as the team entered the offseason with several question marks and whether Drury would make major changes. It's safe to say after the start they've had and are in the ongoing negotiations with superstar goaltender Igor Shesterkin, the Rangers are sitting well and hope to continue to build their record for as long as possible.

The Rangers next game will be at home in Madison Square Gardens as they face off
against the reigning Stanley Cup champions the Florida Panthers. The game will be held on October 24th and puck drop will be at 7:00 PM eastern.
