The NHL Sells Fans out for thirty pieces of silver to Fanatics
The NHL and bad decisions, how often does this happen? Quite a bit with Gary Bettman at the helm. The NHL announced that Fanatics would take over as the league's jersey partner this season.
This was after Adidas's reign from 2017 to 2024, and we mourn that as Fanatics outrageous prices have resulted in a furious fanbase.
Reebok used to sell a retail version of the ice jersey when they were making the jerseys for the NHL. The only difference is that the Edge 1.0/2.0 was considerably cost-effective and let fans enjoy the on-ice product.
This year though, you will have to pay an arm and a leg to wear, what your favorite stars, like Chris Kreider do on ice.
Of course, you could always settle for an Authentic Premium, which is the same quality as a retail(Not Made in Canada) Adidas.
But this will set collectors on fire, as their hobby may be priced out of existence.
Fans themselves should be angry that Fanatics has cornered the market for sports merchandising and controls the jersey manufacturing for the NFL, MLB, and NOW the NHL.
Another Gary Bettman mistake.
