Utah Hockey Club makes franchise history for signing former first-rounder Dylan Guenther to a giant long-term extension.

Utah Hockey Club has decided to make things clear as they locked up a key aspect of their future to a massive contract extension just before the start of the 2025-25 season.

NHL insider, Elliotte Friedman reported earlier today that the UHC will be signing Dylan Gunther to a 8-year contract extension worth slightly above $7 million per year.

"Hearing Dylan Guenther and Utah closing in on an eight-year extension at slightly above $7M per.

The Utahns lock up a key piece." Friedman said.

Later throughout the day Friedman ended up confirming that Utah Hockey Club had made it official:

The 21-year old was selected 9th overall in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft by the Arizona Coyotes. Last season, Guenther put up 35 points (18 goals, 17 assists) in 45 games with Coyotes, along with 28 points (ten goals, 18 assists) in 29 games for their AHL affiliate team, the Tucson Roadrunners.
