The official price to bring Maple Leafs forward to New York has been revealed
Could the New York Rangers acquire Max Domi if he lands in free agency?
While there is just a couple days left until free agency opens, there has been speculation that the Toronto Maple Leafs may not be able to keep their pending UFA forward, Max Domi.
According NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, Domi isn't quite ready to part ways with the Leafs, and that the two sides are still currently working on a deal.
«I've heard they're really battling to get something done with Domi. I know there were reports initially that it would have to be 5 (years) x $5M, but I don't think that's the case right now. I've heard the ask is in the 4 x 4 range which doesn't strike me as incredibly unreasonable, but I think the Maple Leafs are trying to be very careful.«
However, Chris Johnson stated on his podcast that Domi is «looking for some security right now» considering he hasn't had anything longer than a two-year deal, since his entry-level contract.
So with the 29-year old forward looking for a term that is at least in the four-year range, the New York Rangers could definitely be a potential landing spot if the Maple Leafs fail to make a deal.
With the Rangers desperately looking for a winger that can move the puck for their top line, Domi would definitely be a great choice, as he finished last season with 9 goals and 38 assists for a total of 47 points.
