The Playoffs Are Set, And A Rivalry Renewed
The Washington Capitals have just clinched the second wild card spot in the Eastern Conference, and will play against the Rangers in the first round of the playoffs!
The Rangers and Capitals will meet in the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the 10th time, with the Rangers (5-4) holding the edge over the Capitals (4-5) - a history that goes back as recently as a 4-3 win in 2015 Second Round.
The Capitals qualify with a -37 goal differential, 27th in the NHL.
That is the lowest differential of a postseason team since the 1991 Whalers (-38) and Canucks (-77), when the league had 21 teams.
The race to 16 wins begins now!
