The Rangers Are In An Exclusive Class Defensively
The Rangers are in an elite class of teams who make it difficult for the opposition to score on them.
The Rangers are one of three teams to have allowed less than 30 goals this season.
They have allowed 27 goals, the Vancouver Canucks have allowed 26, and the Boston Bruins allowed 25.
Had it not been for that blunder of a third period in the 5-3 win against the Detroit Red Wings, where the Rangers inexplicably allowed the Red Wings to score three unanswered goals, the Rangers would have allowed the least amount of goals.
Nevertheless, it's more impressive on the Rangers side considering they have the injuries to their ace defenseman Adam Fox, and their two starting goaltenders, Igor Shesterkin and Jonathan Quick.
It's a team effort that makes them as successful as they are, especially when they have allowed the third least amount of shots per game at 27.4, that's how they are able to play with practically any goaltender.
What's exciting is with the eventual return of Fox, Shesterkin, and Quick, this team defensively may take it up a level the league is not ready for, and it'll be beautiful to watch!
