The Rangers Are Not Relying On The Past To Beat The Hurricanes
For the second time in three years, it'll be Rangers vs. Hurricanes in the second round. The matchup NHL fans have been anticipating all season for. With both teams advancing quickly, they're going to have to wait a while to get back at it. The league has yet to announce a start date for their series. But there is word of the series starting on Sunday, with Game 2 on Tuesday.
The Rangers will have plenty of time to prepare for what will be a brutally hard fought series. Head coach Peter Laviolette does not plan on showing any video from the Rangers series with the Hurricanes two years ago ahead of this year's matchup.
Chris Kreider also isn't interested in comparing this series to the last time these two teams played:
"A new series, two new teams"
The Rangers won two of the three regular season games against the Hurricanes, 2-1 at MSG on Nov. 2 and 1-0 at PNC on March 12. Carolina won 6-1 at MSG on Jan. 2.
