The Rangers' Stand Above The Rest In Division Six Games Into The Season
The New York Rangers are sitting pretty on top of the Metropolitan division, six games into the season.
With the New Jersey Devils loss last night, each team has played at least six games in the division, with the exception of the New York Islanders, who have played five games.
Even if they play the sixth game and win, they will fall short of the division lead this early in the season.
Now it's still really early.
There are 76 games to go the rest of the season. But even with the questionable losses of the Columbus Blue Jackets and Nashville Predators, mixed in with alternating wins and losses the first five games of the season amid a very mixed start, the Rangers' still stand above the rest in this young and early season.
Even with the mighty New Jersey Devils and Carolina Hurricanes looking up to them in the standings.
The Rangers' are playing in their third straight road game, and looking to extend their win streak to three games tonight, against the Edmonton Oilers, at Rogers Place, in Edmonton.
The Oilers' will be without Connor McDavid, who is out one to two weeks with an upper body injury. This will be the second straight game he misses due to the injury.
Milestone alert!
The Rangers' are 14 victories away from the franchise 3,000th win, becoming the fifth franchise to achieve this feat.
