The New York Rangers have come off of a season winning a President's Trophy, and aren't looking like they should.

In 2024-2025 the team has been surrounded by drama with its lack of consistency, and trade talks intensifying.

Those names involved with recent trade talks were Chris Kreider and Captain Jacob Trouba.

While, we have to keep in mind that GM Chris Drury was hired to make the Rangers a winning team, ruthlessness will be involved in every move.

Including the move that saw him circumvent a no-trade clause to waive him, only to be claimed by the San Jose Sharks. Talk about cold-blooded.

Well, the Rangers could be in the trade market, but what if they don't move Chris Kreider? Who could be on the block?

The "Warrior" defenseman has had a disappointing 2024-2025, in 15 games he's only scored 2 points( 1 G, 1A).

Lindgren spent the beginning of the season out on injury and has yet to return to form. With Lindgren in the lineup in 2024-2025, the Rangers are 7-7-0, compared to 4-0-1 with the play seen in the past.

Lindgren being injury-prone doesn't help his case with the front office.

The value the Rangers could get in return for him may be low, as he and Trouba have proven to be a liability on the ice.

K'Andre Miller is another play who looks like a shadow of himself, compared to his career year in 2022-2023.

That season saw him score 43 points( 9 G, 34 A), and his production declined in 2023-2024, with only 30 points. While he's been paired with Adam Fox there's been hope that he'd step up his game, but has failed to do so.

Miller is an RFA and would be due a raise when his contract expires, the Rangers could still get good value out of the top-pairing defenseman as his full potential hasn't been realized.

The only thing is now, where he stands it looks like he won't be offered an extension by GM Chris Drury anytime soon.

When the Rangers acquired Reilly Smith they'd hope he find the form which scored 56 points in the Vegas Golden Knights in 2022-2023.

However, his time with the Rangers has been uneventful, scoring 11 points( 3 G, 8 A) in 20 games. He hasn't found a way to be a game-breaking forward, even when paired with the Rangers best forwards like Mika Zibanejad and Chris Kreider.

Smith is a UFA and could be moved during the trade deadline as a rental.

The New York Rangers could still find a way out of their slump, but if things don't change GM Chris Drury could find the pretext to make major moves now.
