NHL insider Elliotte Friedman has revealed that a trade involving the New York Rangers and the Vancouver Canucks is in the process of falling apart or is already off the table.

According to several reports throughout the last month, the Canucks were on the verge of trading J.T. Miller and the New York Rangers were at the top of the list of potential suitors but it now seems like those trade talks have cooled down.

During Saturday night's Hockey Night in Canada broadcast, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman revealed that the trade was so close at one point that Miller was expected to be held out of the lineup for Saturday nights game between the Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks.

"J.T. Miller I expect is going to play tonight, unless something changes at the last minute, but there was a time over the last 24 hours where J.T. Miller was not going to play," revealed Friedman. "He was going to be held out of the lineup because talks were progressing on a trade."

Friedman revealed that the team involved in the potential trade was the New York Rangers:

"I believe that team to be the New York Rangers," said Friedman.

However, Friedman revealed that the trade involving the Rangers never materialized for some unknown reason:

"I don't know exactly what happened but that trade is off right now," said Friedman.

Friedman then continued to say that there is other teams in the NHL that have been granted permission to speak to Miller about a trade, a clear indication that the Canucks are done with Miller.

"I believe now at this time some teams do have permission to talk to Miller," revealed Friedman. "Not sure who it is but I've heard that there are some teams that have been granted permission."

Definitely seems like something is brewing here, so stay tuned for updates on this rapidly developing story.
