The Rangers are currently sitting first in the metro division and have had a drop in their production and point total after the holiday break.
Many people around the league and the fan base feel the Rangers will be highly active at the deadline to acquire talent for a Stanley Cup push.
However, one prominent Rangers insider feels quite differently for what the team plans to do and what they should do.
Larry Brooks of the New York Post feels the team is not good enough to go all the way and should not remove their future in terms of draft picks and prospects for a short, termed Stanley Cup run.
As he mentions, the Rangers would have to pay a heavy price for a 3C as the market is rising for that need and there are not as many options out there who will fit the bill.
One player that has continued to surface is Montreal Canadiens centre Sean Monahan.
As Brooks has reported before, do the Rangers want to trade their first-round draft pick and potentially a prospect to acquire Monahan for the 3C position?
Brooks has mentioned the Rangers are one of the easiest teams to play against as their level of toughness is quite low.
Even though the team decimated the senators 7-2 last night, it's clear the team needs more toughness down their bottom 6 and even on their wing to help compete and have grit and snarl during the playoffs.
It's safe to say his review is not what many Rangers fans want to hear however, it remains to be seen on what management will do and what Chris Drury will decide.
