Historic NHL franchise has officially been listed for $2 billion dollars
Recent reports confirm the Tampa Bay Lightning have listed their organization for sale.
It was reported earlier today that the Tampa Bay Lightning are listing their organization for and sale and are asking a whopping $2 Billion.
Over the last few years the Lighting have been one of the most successful teams in the league, while winning the Stanley Cup for 2 consecutive years (2020 + 2021). With the recent success the organization has achieved, the value has reached an all time record and the ownership is ready to sell.
Definitely something that's not unusual to see as many teams have sold shares in recent months.
«According to multiple sources, the Tampa Bay Lightning have begun a multi-stage sale process that will value the team at close to $2 billion (US).
Those sources stressed the deal is not done yet, adding there will be no immediate change of ownership control and no change in the day-to-day operations of the team.»
The current ownership of the Tampa Bay Lightning's released a statement on the situation:
«I can confirm that we are in discussions to further expand our ownership group of the Tampa Bay Lightning. There will be no change in the day-to-day operations of the Lightning and Vinik Sports Group. I am very excited about what is to come for the organization and we look forward to sharing more when the time is right.»
Earlier this year the Lightning were listed at a value of $1.2 billion by Sportico.
