As suspected, the Rangers Adam Fox had been injured during the Stanley Cup playoffs.

The knee-to-knee collision with Nick Jensen during the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs re-aggravated an injury he acquired in November.

The injury had put him out a significant amount of time,

«It was the same knee as the hit before,» Fox said. «Just kind of re-aggravated it again. Like I said, I was able to play and just tried to play to the best of my abilities.»

Some local media had suspected that Fox had been skating funny, and not been able to play to the best of his abilities. This only confirms their suspicions that Rangers suffered due to Fox's performance.

Fox certainly didn't want to use it as an excuse during his play against the Panthers, but it didn't help him much either.

«Maybe at times I think,» Fox said on if the injury affected his mobility. «Any time you hurt something, maybe you feel a little tentative. As it went on, I thought it got better and tried to create a little more, but definitely that Carolina series made me a little tentative and thought it got better as it went along.»

Fox played 16 playoff games against the Washington Capitals, Carolina Hurricanes, and Florida Panthers.

The top-pairing defenseman, scored no goals, and 8 assists, during that time, while averaging 23: 57 TOI.
