Ottawa Fires General Manager After Pick Forfeiture
The Ottawa Senators have just fired General Manager Pierre Dorion from the team.
This comes only a few hours after the Senators were forfeiting a first round pick for their role in the Evgeni Dadonov trade to the Vegas Golden Knights and subsequent deal to the Anaheim Ducks, which was later invalidated because they did not supply the proper no-trade list.
The Senators must forfeit a 1st round pick in 2024, 2025 or 2026.
The last occurrence a team has forfeited a first round pick was in 2021, with the Arizona Coyotes.
Dorion career in the NHL started when he was an amateur scout for the Montreal Canadiens for eleven years until 2005.
He then joined the New York Rangers as a scout of amateur teams. Dorion was general manager for the Senators since 2016.
