The Pittsburgh Penguins continue to plan their next move in terms of a push for the playoffs or a tear down of the roster as general manager Kyle Dubas decided to lock up a beleaguered forward who has showed promise since his recovery from surgery.
Former Oilers winger Jesse Puljujarvi was signed by the Penguins today for two years at $800,000 per season.
Jesse Puljujarvi had a tumultuous time in Edmonton which spanned six seasons after being drafted by the team in 2016, in the first-round 4th pick overall.
The oilers thought they had a top six forward who would produce at a great rate but unfortunately, he could not replicate what they hoped for.
After spending half a season with the Hurricanes, he had undergone double hip surgery and was on the pace for a full recovery.
When he was cleared to play hockey again, the Penguins signed him to a PTO in which led to this contract.
It remains to be seen on whether he could make a difference for the Penguins as his numbers have been underwhelming through most of his career.
