Insider reports Mike Hoffman officially signs a PTO with a Stanley Cup contender
The Edmonton Oilers have announced that they have signed Mike Hoffman to a Professional Tryout (PTO) contract.
The Edmonton Oilers released this announcement this afternoon on their social media account on X, stating they have signed veteran forward Mike Hoffman to a professional tryout contract.
Hoffman was on of the remaining top free agents left on the market without a contract, but now he's committed to the Edmonton Oilers as he hopes to keep his NHL dream alive.
Just this past season, Mike Hoffman managed to tally 10 goals, 13 assists, for a title of 23 points in 66 games with the San Jose Sharks. Relatively some impressive stats, considering how bad the team was.
Definitely a low risk, high reward for the Oilers as if this doesn't work out they can just release him from his PTO, or if it does work out they could be signing a potential 20+ goal scorer, as he's done so 6 different times and managed to score 36 goals back in 2018-19 with the Florida Panthers.
