NHL Considering Drastically Changing Overtime Rules
Senior writer at ESPN, Greg Wyshynski, has reported on the league potentially changing the overtime rules to create more offense in overtime games.
Check out the article. It fully details what the league is considering in terms of changes.
Arizona Coyotes general manager, Bill Armstrong, comments what the purpose of overtime is:
"The purpose of overtime is to end the game [before the shootout], and we need to make sure that continues to progress."
From the report Greg made, lots of discussion about reducing puck possession, potentially by trying to make «half court» rules on circling back in your own zone including restricting a team from skating back into its own zone.
Hopefully these rules don't take away from the excitement of overtime.
