The NHL has looked at ideas on how to improve the game while making it faster and giving teams incentive to win the games sooner.
It appears that this issue has been overlooked as the the NHL GM meetings concluded a few days ago.
During an episode of the 32 Thoughts, podcasters Elliotte Friedman and Jeff Marek discussed overtime and why it won't be changed.
Many people have felt that overtime should either be a 10-minute session of three on three or even longer.
Granted, it's tough to say what would be better on how to finish off hockey games or even accepting the idea that a tie game is OK.
It doesn't seem likely that the NHL will be changing this format anytime soon and the fanbase will continue to watch their three on three regroupings which can be exciting and also boring.
It seems no matter what the NHL does many teams continue to get the loser point and puts them into the stage of parity which allows them to remain in the playoff hunt even though many teams ahead of them have one as many games or even less.
