Tragic news strikes as TSN reporter Darren Dutchyshen has passed away

Tragedy strikes the hockey community as news spreads of the passing of TSN Anchor Darren Dutchyshen.

The hockey community mourns the passing of one the most beloved sports personalities across Canada. Darren Dutchyshen will always be remembered for his passionate TSN personalities, and has been a centrepiece of the network since 1995.

Dutchyshen was mostly known by many viewers and companions as Dutchy, as he became a beloved figure among sports fans across the USA and Canada.

TSN released a heartfelt statement mourning the loss of Dutchyshen, and spoke on about his legacy with SportsCenter.

«A larger-than-life personality, Darren's incredible sense of humour and magnetic energy made him a natural broadcaster who connected easily with viewers. His enthusiasm reminded us every day of why we love sports. Most significantly, Darren was a friend to all of us at TSN, and we will miss him dearly. Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with his loved ones.»

Dutchyshen's family also released a statement confirming the devastating news of his passing, informing that he passed away peacefully while surrounded by loved ones and still cracking jokes.

«He passed as he was surrounded by his closest loved ones,» the Dutchyshen family said. «His sharp wit remained until his final moments, classically delivering plenty of jokes � most of them pretty good and all of them inappropriate.»

Several of the most well known figures in the hockey community have also reached out to make statements in remembrance of Dutchyshen.

May you rest in peace Darren Dutchyshen, you'll forever be remembered in the hockey community.
