Former New York Rangers forward Artem Anisimov makes major career announcement

Former Rangers forward Artem Anisimov

It was revealed yesterday that former New York Rangers forward Artem Anisimov has decided to hang up his skates and call it a career after 20 years.

Throughout his career which included thirteen seasons in the NHL, Anisimov felt that it was time to move on to the next chapter in his life we call it a career with hockey. In his announcement, he thanked fans, family and friends along with his coaches who have given him the support to play for this long.
The 36-year-old center was drafted by the Rangers in 2006, second round, 54th overall. He has played for several NHL organizations which included the Rangers, Columbus Blue Jackets, Chicago Blackhawks and the Ottawa Senators. Throughout those years he had been a consistent point getter with several seasons of 20 goals or more and gave teams valuable secondary scoring and power play time.
According to nhl.com, he had played 771 games, scored 180 goals with 196 assists for 376 points and had 214 penalty minutes. He also had 17 points through 43 games during the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Last season, he attempted to remain with the NHL as he had signed a professional tryout with the Detroit Red Wings. Unfortunately, he could not remain as he was cut from the roster but found a spot with the Rangers AHL affiliate with the Hartford Wolf Pack.
Many fans will look upon his career and he had shown consistency in his game as he loved the game so much which showed in his 20 years of playing.
