John Tortorella has always been a polarizing figure in the NHL, known for his fiery outbursts and military style of coaching. That said, the Philadelphia Flyers head coach is making headlines again as he went off the rails during yesterday's matchup against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Similar to the New York Rangers, the Philadelphia Flyers are fighting to maintain relevance in the Eastern Conference playoff race.
While the Flyers are currently sit 6 points out of a wild a wildcard spot, John Tortorella is clearly pushing his team to perform. However, his emotions have once again gotten the best of him.

John Tortorella goes off the rails against Pittsburgh Penguins

To be fair, head coach John Tortorella had every reason to be upset here.
The Philadelphia Flyers have been notorious for blowing crucial leads all season long, and thats exactly what happened last night against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The Flyers held a 4-2 lead, but the Penguins mounted a furious comeback with timely goals from veterans Erik Karlsson and Evgeni Malkin.
While the Philadelphia Flyers went on to lose the game in dramatic fashion, another moment in the game sparked Tortorella's outburst.
According to Blade of Steel, The biggest moment of the night involved Boko Imama, who laid a brutal hit on Garnet Hathaway away from the puck, with the veteran Flyers forward having to be helped from the ice afterwards.
Upon inspection, it became clear that this play warranted at least a five-minute major for Imama, who hit Hathaway late, dangerously and nowhere near the play, so when the officials announced just a two-minute minor, Head Coach John Tortorella unleashed on the bench.

Clearly, John Tortorella was looking for a 5 minute major -- and rightfully so.
Although the Philadelphia Flyers earned a single point from their tough, Tortorella's troops must find a way to string together a few more wins, or their season will come to an abrupt end.
