The New York Rangers have been one of the more disappointing teams during the 2024-25 NHL campaign, and GM Chris Drury needs to come up with some solutions before the Rangers blow their shot and postseason contention. That said, a recent trade pitch has emerged sending superstar forward to the Colorado Avalanche.

Fans will remember back in November when GM Chris Drury announced a fire sale on former captain Jacob Trouba and forward Chris Kreider.
While Jacob Trouba secured a new home in California, Chris Kreider's future in New York still hangs in the balance.

Trade pitch emerges sending Chris Kreider to the Colorado Avalanche

According to heavy, PuckPedia's PuckGM tool lets users create their own trades. One user proposed a deal that would see the Rangers dealing Chris Kreider to the Colorado Avalanche.
Rangers acquire:
Jack Drury
2025 second-round pick
Avalanche acquire:
Chris Kreider ($2 million retained)
Drury is 25 and is in the first year of a two-year $3.45 million deal. Drury was already traded from the Carolina Hurricanes to the Avalanche in the Mikko Rantanen deal. The young forward could be a middle-six center for the Rangers and add some youth to the lineup. He's recorded 5 goals and 6 assists for 11 points in 49 games.

In return, New York would trade Kreider to the Avalanche to help Colorado's playoff run. The star forward is in the fifth year of his seven-year $45.5 million deal. Kreider has recorded 17 goals and 4 assists for 21 points in 48 games.

Although this trade has no merit to it, it does pose as an intriguing options for the New York Rangers moving forward.
It's no secret that Chris Kreider's days in New York are numbered, and the Blue Shirts would be getting a decent prospect and a fairly high draft pick in return for the disgruntled forward.
Quite frankly, Chris Kreider's stock has tanked significantly and he's not quite the prolific goal scorer he once was.
As the March 7th trade deadline draws closer, GM Chris Drury should contemplate dishing Kreider out while he still retains some value.
Will he do it? Time will tell.
