General Manager Chris Drury has stated has stated that the New York Rangers are open to moving players, in order to make the team better than they are.

The team is currently 12-8-1 and has given up losses in the last three games to the Edmonton Oilers, St. Louis Blues, and Carolina Hurricanes.

With a 2-2 split in the West, Drury is hitting his panic button and has been rumored to make moves very soon.

Chris Kreider and Jacob Trouba have been floated as the first two players in the organization who could be moved.

According to The Athletic's Arthur Staple, they met with both players to have conversations regarding news of trades surfacing in the media.

Arthur Staple reported on Tuesday that Drury reportedly held meetings with Trouba, Kreider, and other veterans, described by a team source as «honest, productive conversations.» The goal wasn't necessarily to backpedal on threatening to trade anyone but to prevent fractures within the roster and rebuild trust amid swirling trade rumors.

Jacob Trouba

Trouba is a right-shot defenseman who Chris Drury failed to move this summer, with Trouba opting to stay in New York. The Rangers Captain has a 15-team no-trade clause, and can veto trades if it's to a team he doesn't like.

His contract is a hefty $8 Million AAV, and has only scored 6 points in 20 games and could provide a tough presence on whoever is lucky enough on the 17-team list to acquire him.

Instead of commenting on recent rumors, Trouba has opted to focus on playing hockey.

Chris Kreider

Chris Kreider is a lifelong Ranger whose name is surfacing in trade talks and has yet to die down. The Rangers forward is a capable presence in any team's top-six, can contribute to the power play, and is a three-time, thirty-goal scorer.

He's a career Ranger: third on the all-time franchise list in goals (313), 10th in points and 10th in games played.

In 19 games, he only has 9 points( 9 G, 0 A) this season and could go to a contender. What's even more ironic is that Drury has a mandate to win a Stanley Cup!

While Kreider is slow to start, will moving Kreider yield the kind of return to keep the Rangers competitive?
