The same team that ended the Rangers six game win streak. So you'll be darn sure there's going to be a bit of animosity here.
The Rangers will be short-handed today. Defenseman Adam Fox and center Filip Chytil are both on long term injured reserve, and injured reserve respectively.
Goaltenders Igor Shesterkin and Jonathan Quick are both out day-to-day with minor soreness and an upper-body injury respectively.
So they will have goaltender Louis Domingue, from the Hartford Wolf Pack making his first start in an NHL game, since 2022.
Coincidentally, it was against the Rangers in game 6 of the 2022 first round playoffs that Domingue last played an NHL game.
The Rangers won that game 5-3 in the midst of overcoming a 3-1 series deficit against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Now we all have our eyes set on the team getting that W.
But we also are keeping an eye on Artemi Panarin, and if he can continue his mind-boggling streak of consecutive games registering a point, which is currently at 12.
It'll be fascinating to see if he continues his onslaught against the opposition. The Rangers currently sit in first place in the Metropolitan Division.
With a win, or an overtime loss today, they will extend their point streak to 9 straight games.
Last time the team have failed to register a point, was October 19th, against the Nashville Predators.
They were 2-2 at that point. They have gone 7-0-1 since. It is the fifth time in team history the Rangers have won at least nine of their first 12 games of a season.
Milestone alert! The Rangers are nine wins away from becoming the fifth team to reach 3,000 all time regular season wins.
