The NHL has decided without reason to change the time for a game between the Buffalo Sabres and New York Rangers.

The game is scheduled to take place on December 11th, at 7:30 PM and Gary Bettman and the league have moved it back to 7 PM.

The game will be televised nationally which could be a reason why they needed to shift the time back, but there's been no confirmation.

Per SI Breakaway:

No reason was given for the change, but allow us to speculate. The NHL only has one other game scheduled for that night, with the Anaheim Ducks and Ottawa Senators set to face off at 7:30 p.m. ET.

With just two games on the schedule, the league likely wanted to stagger the start times a bit to get more eyes on both of them, and the Rangers' national fanbase likely made the decision a bit easier.

NEW YORK (Nov. 21, 2024) - The National Hockey League announced today the following change to the 2024-25 regular-season schedule:

Game #457, New York Rangers at Buffalo Sabres scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 7:30 p.m. ET has been moved up to 7 p.m. ET. The game will be televised nationally in the United States on TNT, truTV and MAX.

The game will be the 2nd meeting between the three-game series between the New York Rangers and Buffalo Sabres.

The last game saw the Sabres put up six goals on Igor Shesterkin and exposed the weaknesses in the New York Rangers lineup early in November.

The rebuilding Buffalo Sabres are currently 9-9-1 and are struggling to find themselves a spot for playoff contention.

Their top scorers are currently Alex Tuch and Tage Thompson who both have scored 18 points.
