As free agency approaching the New York Rangers are looking to make so significant changes to their roster.

One of those changes involve former 2nd overall pick, Kaapo Kakko as he was selected in the 2019 NHL Entry draft.

Since then there was tons of excitement surrounding his name, but since joining the league he hasn't quite reached the expectations thought he would.

However, New York Rangers general manager Chris Drury has seems to reached a final conclusion on what he will do with Kakko.

In a recent statement released by Chris Drury, he hinted the organization isn't ready to part ways with the Kaapo Kakko, as they want to work with him to reach his full potential.

Drury on pending RFA Kaapo Kakko:

"We were talking about Laf at this time last year and refuting rumors that I was trying to trade him Kaapo Kakko is still a young player We're going to continue to try and find everything we can do to help him reach his potential."

Hopefully this is the right move as this past with the Rangers his production dropped by 50%, with only 19 points (13 goals, six assists) in 61 games. During the Rangers' run to the Eastern Conference Final, he only had two points in 13 games.
