Jacob Trouba has been demoted by the New York Rangers According to Stan Fischler of The Hockey News

Instead of being a top-pairing defenseman, he's used to playing, the Captain will instead hold a spot on the third pairing with Braden Schneider.
(We have checked DailyFaceoff) and we agree that Trouba deserves some comeuppance with his play last season, but it appears he once again will be 2nd pairing against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
So, maybe The Hockey News Stan Fischler should consider sharing with us new line combinations?
Even if you look at the Morning Pucks for June 1st, 2023 you can see Trouba clearly in the 2nd pairing against the Florida Panthers.
So while it is a nice thought that The Hockey News is actively spreading information it appears, that is actively MISInforming its own fanbase in order to get hits.
This piece is in no way shape or form, a personal attack against Stan Fischler and The Hockey News, but it does make us question their editorial standards when we're the ones who have to fact-check them.

Honestly, I'd never see the day where I'd be the little guy punching upward, but today I will gladly do so.
Honestly, given the way that Trouba has handled the critiques on his game including the outrage he received last season, has been classy.
He's gone through the wringer, thanks to the Rangers front office and he's not blameless but even this is ridiculous.
Trouba will have to of course justify his salary this year, as he will have to play like the Rangers are paying him a hefty $8 Million AAV salary, which is a lot for any defenseman not named Victor Hedman, or Adam Fox.
That's not to say he can't rebound, but he definitely needs to take a step forward this season to keep his career alive beyond 2025-2026 or he will definitely be subject to demotion this season and beyond.
Jacob Trouba has been Captain in New York since 2019 and is capable of doing better.
Or he will be a bottom-pairing defenseman, but not today he's not!
