Major Development: New York Rangers expected to name unexpected forward as their next captain

Without a Captain, the Rangers could be considered rudderless, and without solid leadership in the locker room.
And with news of disarray spreading throughout the team, they'll need to find a way to keep the team on course to becoming winners once again.
While there are several veterans on the team capable of leading, having a captain is important, and filling that void now is exactly what this struggling team could use.
It's arguable, that Vinnie Troecheck could be the next Captain for the Rangers.
He gives reporters the difficult answers, instead of using Hockey Lingo 101, you know what we mean.
As a person, he's will liked by those in and out of the locker room, and generally well-received by the organization.
He plays with ferocity and skill on the ice, chasing pucks and providing a style of play missing for the Rangers.
A gritty two-way forward, who plays with speed and skill. Troecheck is someone players could afford to emulate.
Not only would naming Troecheck Captain quell drama and noise across, the media it could help re-focus the team as well.
Naming Trocheck as captain would set a precedent that the management group actually does believe in this core despite reports stating the contrary.
It would also help calm all of the outside noise down, shifting the focus from their struggles and trade drama.
If the Rangers don't have plans to move Troecheck, and considering his short-tenure as a Blueshirt, they shouldn't.
He should be considered for the Captains patch.
In 36 games with the Rangers this season, he's scored 23 points( 10 G, 13 A) with a -5.
