Major development New York Rangers legend Henrik Lundqvist inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame
The New York Rangers legend Henrik Lundqvist was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2023. His career precedes him as one of the best Rangers goalies of all time. Now, he has been inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame in 2025.
Henrik Lundqvist's career was long and prosperous with the New York Rangers, as he saw one appearance in the Stanley Cup final.
He would go on to set multiple records for the team, including his recent induction into the IIHF Hall of Fame.
He was inducted today along with fellow original-six NHL peer, Zdeno Chara.
Lundqvist made many memorable appearances with Sweden on the international stage. From the Under-18s to the senior national team, he became one of the most decorated backstops in the country's history, winning gold at the 2006 Turin Olympics, as well as the 2017 IIHF Men's World Championship.
Lundqvist himself came from humble beginnings as a 7th-round pick in the 2000 NHL Draft.
Sweden's Lundqvist is considered by many as one of the best goalies of all-time and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2023 after a 15-year career with the New York Rangers.
A seventh-round selection in 2000, Lundqvist would end up posting a career 2.43 goals-against average and a .918 save percentage, winning the Vezina Trophy in 2012.
He wouldn't reach the Rangers until nearly five years after he was drafted and wouldn't look back as he'd never be assigned to the AHL after he arrived in Madison Square Garden.
Congratulations to Henrik Lundqvist and his induction into the IIHF Hall of Fame.
