New York Rangers fan favourite enforcer Matt Rempe speaks out on the heated altercation between Igor Shesterkin and Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk in latest interview.

On Tuesday night the New York Rangers faced off against the Ottawa Senators and they managed to take a 5-0 victory.

The Rangers dominated the entire game which lead to Matt Rempe to score his first goal of the 2024-25 season early in the third period.

After the game, Rempe opened up on his goal, along with the incident that occurred near the end of the game between Shesterkin and Tkachuk.

Here's what he said about his goal:

"I see a pass make it, don't think too much, and then, get on my horse and they made a great play," Rempe said. "I screamed for it, get back to it. I always kinda had to move my back out, I always did that and it worked, little happy it went in."

Rempe, then went on to talk about the scrum that broke out behind the Rangers net after Senators captain Brady Tkachuk ran into Igor Shesterkin.

After the hit, a big scrum emerged, and Shesterkin didn't shy away and quickly attacked Brady Tkachuk, which resulted in Rempe trying to stand up for his goaltender.

The video down below shows exactly how the altercation went:

Here's what Rempe said about the altercation:

"I was a little nervous because I don't want anything to happen to him, but I love it just because he's a competitor. I just want to make sure I get in there and nothing happens, but it was awesome - Igor's the man."

Shesterkin also opened up on the incident. This is what he had to say:

"I got a couple of punches from Tkachuk. To be honest, it just was a hit on me and I don't really enjoy that because I was between the pipe and him. I didn't want to jump there, but I saw he got in between our guy and their guy, so I just tried to hold him, but he wanted to fight."

Definitely great to see that the Rangers have found their spark, as they desperately need it if they want to claim a wild card spot.
