The New York Rangers struggled to mount a comeback Saturday, as they lost 6-2 to the Edmonton Oilers.

The defense and offense were looking sloppy, and unable to play like the team Peter Laviolette expects them to be.

One of those players who called out the team during a postgame interview, was the Rangers #1 defenseman, Adam Fox.

The defenseman felt that they were unable to maintain control in the offensive zone, and failed to create chances on the ice.

"Definitely. I mean, seems like we kind of found a little bit more in the second," Fox said. "The past two games, giving up 20-something shots, getting five, it's just indicative of a couple things. We're on our heels a little bit and one and done in the offensive zone and not making them defend."

He'd addressed it with Mollie Walker and spoke of how they were unable to sustain offensive pressure, which is key to making the other team play your game.

Peter Laviolette would disagree with Adam Fox's critique of the team and said the offense hasn't worked as he'd hoped. Was the astounding defeat a reason to call up Brett Berard?

"Um, well, it's not scoring. They're not dropping right now. There's some movement, there's some looks, we're walking in, but it's not falling for us. So, it can be better. There's no question it can be better," Laviolette said. (1:05)

He'd expand upon their struggles against the Oilers:

«It was different tonight, it seemed like our heads were in it, but our game didn't follow,» Laviolette said (via NHL.com). «The other night we just seemed to be flat, but I thought tonight, their rush, we didn't handle the rush and the D-zone coverage, I don't think we handled it well."

The Rangers were unable to stop the Edmonton Oilers, who outshot the Blueshirts, 21-9, and a short-handed Darnell Nurse goal would begin the route.

Artemi Panarin would be the only goal-scorer for the night.

Something needs to change for the Rangers, and will Brett Berard be the solution? It seems, as if maybe the same issues which were present before, are still there.
