New York Rangers amongst another Original Six team linked to controversial head coach

GM Chris Drury and The New York Rangers have opted to go all in on a shake-up.
The team has been rumored to be moving on from key veteran players like Chris Kreider, and Jacob Trouba but now they're on a hunt for a new coach.
As it stands, Peter Laviolette has struggled to produce the same results that earned a President's Trophy in 2023-2024.
The team is now 13-9-1 after a sound defeat of the Montreal Canadiens today, but given Drury's track record no one is safe.
Including Gerard Gallant, who took the team to multiple postseasons, had a longer leash, and a better record but would still lose his job
According to Marco D'Amico of TSN 690, the New York Rangers have entered the fray to hire former three-time Stanley Cup-winning Coach Joel Quenneville.
The Rangers, meanwhile, have struggled, but thoughts of replacing head coach Peter Laviolette is intriguing. The article notes: «Following a 3-1 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers, questions about Laviolette's future have intensified, particularly with a crucial game against the Montreal Canadiens looming.»
Quenneville hasn't been behind the bench since 2021 when he resigned from the coaching job in Florida after news of the Kyle Beach incident surfaced in Chicago.
The fallout saw Stan Bowman and Joel Quenneville lose their jobs as a result of their actions, and in July were reinstated and allowed to search for work in the NHL.
Stan Bowman found a new job in Edmonton and is currently GM following the end of Ken Holland's tenure.

According to Gary Bettman, he's done the required work to be trusted once again in a leadership position in the league.
His coaching pedigree in the NHL is highly sought after and has led to his protege Andrew Brunette finding success in the league after his exit.
«Laviolette doesn't have long there,» a trusted NHL source told RG. «I'm hearing Quenneville could be the guy there if that's the route [GM Chris Drury] goes.»
Quenneville has three Stanley Cups to his name and a 452-249-96 record in the NHL.
