The New York Rangers will be busy during this season's trade deadline, as GM Chris Drury aims to build a Stanley Cup-winning roster. That could mean moving the original Golden Knights "misfit" Reilly Smith.

The New York Rangers will have to make a decision on what to do with Reilly Smith. He has not played up to expectations in New York and hasn't been the kind of play that won a Stanley Cup in Vegas, during the 2023 season.
This season in 52 games with the Rangers, he's only tallied 26 points (10 G, 16 A) a pace good enough only for 41 points total this season.
Not good enough for a team that aims to win a Stanley Cup. So GM Chris Drury will have to decide who to prioritize this trade deadline, and it appears Smith could be moved once again.
The Rangers should prioritize moving Smith for assets in return for the secondary-scoring option.
He's provided it scoring in limited showings this season and has found himself primarily riding the pine.

If the Rangers and GM Chris Drury could find a trade him back to Vegas, they should. It's where Smith won a Stanley Cup and played the best hockey of his career after being a pure depth option in Dallas, Boston, and Florida.
Let him fly his misfit colors yet again, and maybe he can find the confidence and the scoring he's lacked here in New York.
Smith is in the third year of his three-year $5 million AAV contract which he signed with the Vegas Golden Knights in 2022-2023.
The Golden Knights lineup has looked remarkably different since the exit of Jonathan Marchessault, and Reilly Smith.
Their top six at the moment features forwards Victor Olofsson and Alexander Holtz.
Neither has found long-term success in the league and with Smith's familiarity with Vegas and T-Mobile Arena, GM Chris Drury should be calling Kelly McCrimmon about a return as soon as possible.
In order for it to be a successful trade, the Rangers should attempt to recoup their losses and secure a second-round and fifth-round pick for the forward.
As it stands now, it seems like a massive overpay for someone whose failed to earn his lineup in the ranks of the Rangers.
