New York Rangers superstar finds himself at the top of an unexpected list
The NHL Network released its list of the Top Ten Goalies in the NHL, and of course, Connor Hellebuyck was 2nd on the list.
The Vezina Trophy winner was 2nd to the Rangers' own, Igor Shesterkin who since 2019-2020, has grown into the Rangers' starting goalie and provided netminding only some NHL teams can dream of.
Shesterkin takes rank over goalies like Andrei Vasilevskyi(once thought to be the best in the NHL), Jeremy Swayman, Linus Ullmark, Jake Oettinger, and fellow Russian Ilya Sorokin.
Shesterkin had a 36-17-2 record, 2.58 goals against average, and a .913 save percentage in 2023-2024.
He improved his play during the NHL playoffs with a 2.43 GAA and a .927 save percentage in 16 playoff games.
Without Shesterkin the Rangers wouldn't have made it so far in the playoffs, as the netminder is the glue that holds the team together.
Seeing as the goalie is set to play during a contract year, he should elevate his game and sign the biggest goalie contract in NHL history.
