NHL Insider reveals this is the end for Jacob Trouba and the New York Rangers following recent statement

During the summer Trouba was thought to be traded to the Detroit Red Wings, but the deal never went through. Outrage was the first response by some of the fanbase, as they assumed Trouba would humbly accept the move.
Instead, he chose to stay in New York and support his wife who works as a resident in a New York hospital.
Yet GM Chris Drury is determined to shake up the status quo for a current Rangers squad who are 4th in the Metropolitan Division.
Given his lack of meaningful production as Captain for the team this season, it's easy to see he has a target on his back, as a trade chip for the Rangers.
While this is obvious to anyone following the team, Friedman recently went on NHL Network and confirmed that the 2024-25 campaign will mark Trouba's last season in New York.
GM Chris Drury will attempt to move his entire $8 Million salary when they make the move, as they need the money to sign multiple RFAs and UFAs, including goalie
Igor Shesterkin.
«It was made very clear that if Trouba was traded last year, he just wouldn't be happy I don't think that's changed,» Friedman said. «Even if there is interest in Trouba, do you really want to acquire him when he's not going to be happy? I think next year he understands he is going to go somewhere else. This is his last year In New York.»
With the Rangers losing six of their last seven games in the NHL, Trouba isn't safe as he's failed to inspire the team to stay consistent.
Trouba stated during training camp that it's no secret it will probably be this Rangers' core's «Last Crack», so it seems that he knows his time in New York is dwindling.
The last gambit made by Drury failed when there were no bites on Trouba or Kreider, and the Captain's $8 Million price tag could be an issue in future trades.
The Captain has played 24 games this season, scoring 6 points(6 A), and played 20:00 TOI in 2024-2025.
